STORY OF A GLADIATOR GAMEPLAY TRAILER

I’m shocked how much stuff is in “Story of a Gladiator”. There’s a story, a ton of shops, a bunch of cosmetics, and more. I like the game but it’s more arcade than you might expect. Since the most important mechanic is the fighting. Story Of a Gladiator is a PC Console game which is now finally Available on Android devices as well.

The combat is plain, which is fine. It’s more about constantly trying to avoid taking damage than anything else. It feels so basic because you can’t parry and there are no combos. The gladiator has one attack button you’ll want to spam to keep enemies stun locked. Dodging, running, and using skills requires stamina but attacking does not. Stamina will not be a problem, I’m able to dodge roll all over the arena. That means roll dodging through the enemy and attacking from the other side but there are enemies it won’t work on. Also, I couldn’t cheese the game with repetitive tactics or skill builds.

“Story of a Gladiator” is not boring. There is enough enemy variety and situations that each level is exciting. The crowd helps too and it’s my favorite mechanic. Killing enemies quickly gets them hyped which fills a meter at the bottom of the screen. When they cheer for you it does two things. First, they’ll start throwing items into the arena. For example, rocks to stun enemies or food to heal you. Second, that bar can be drained to summon your god’s power. The starting god will stun all the enemies, you can imagine how useful that is.

There are three arenas with twelve battles and the last battle is a boss. Every battle is fairly short and made up of three to four waves of enemies. After you win you’re given a three-star rating but I do not understand if that’s based on your health or how many times you get hit.

You can train and place your skill points. There are a bunch of skills and passives to choose from and you get a new point for each level. The level cap is fifteen. That means there are fewer
skill points than places to use them so you must specialize. This is great and gives you the choice to play the way you want. There are a few other shops that give temporary buffs which can help get those three stars on the tough levels.

Overall, “Story of a Gladiator” is fun and I’m enjoying all the customization. The intro sets the silly tone and being able to wear a tiger skin to murder a ton of gladiators drives it home. If you are a gladiator movie or series fan then you must try it.
