After knowing Tribute Games had been submitting pitches for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles title at Nickelodeon since 2010, the two companies decided to collaborate after meeting at a Game Developers Conference.

From playing with the iconic characters of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, to picking either April, Master Splinter, or Casey Jones for the first time as playable characters, players will find the old-school gameplay enhanced by ultra-fresh combat mechanics, and uncover some fantastic adventures thanks to a brand-new, absolutely fantastic Story Mode. Players begin by choosing from six characters: Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello, Master Splinter or their pal April. Each character has between one and three stars in Speed, Range, and Power stats, so I suggest choosing a character whose build best fits your playstyle.

It is inspired by the 1987 animated TV series The Turtles, and stylistically borrowed from the arcades and home console games developed by Konami in the 1980s and 1990s.

Whenever enemies are present, performance is impacted a little bit (it may actually have worse frame-pacing), this is not game-breaking, but is highly visible and happens regardless of how many times you replay the stage. The Turtles, their pal April, and Master Splinter are watching the news when Bebop cuts off the feed to say The Foot is back and has taken the Statue of Liberty.

This is traditionally at odds with the way Beat Em Ups typically played, since their arcade-style formats encouraged players to blast through their brief campaigns in a single sitting. In a standard arcade, players have only a limited number of lives, and games are meant to be completed within one setting.
